Tamron introduces its second generation G2 telephoto lens, which follows in the footsteps of its successful predecessor SP 150-600 F/5-6,3 Di VC USD. The new model has enhanced optical design that achieves even greater performance. Three Low Dispersion (LD) elements completely eliminate axial and lateral chromatic aberration. The optical system has also undergone some improvements and now features 21 elements in 13 groups and benefits from an innovative manufacturing technology. This innovation allows results in high resolution image, superior sharpness, and improved lens performance. The lens is designed to meet high demands of photographers who specialise in ultra-telephoto photography.
The SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 offers several new features and innovations. For example, the special eBand surface nano coating eliminates glare and shadows. This modification also improves light transmission and suppresses internal reflections. Combination with BBAR finish, both ghosting and flare caused by reflected light are reduced to the very minimum. Minimum focus distance is 2.2 meters, which is 0.5 meters less than in the previous model.
This model is newly equipped with a USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) motor with excellent response and control. AF speed has been greatly increased compared to the previous version, allowing you to focus extremely fast when shooting moving objects. The VC (Vibration Compensation) effectiveness is equivalent to 4.5 stops. Additionally, the lens provides three types of VC modes:
Flex Lock Zoom is a mechanism that quickly locks or unlocks the zoom at any position simply by sliding the zoom ring. You can shoot from any angle without the zoom extending unintentionally. The system is particularly useful when transporting the lens, as it prevents unwanted barrel extension.
The front side of the lens is coated with a protective fluorine layer that repels water and oil. As a result, this means that the lens surface is easy to clean of dirt, dust, moisture, and fingerprints without any negative consequences. The entire barrel is additionally protected by waterproof sealing, allowing you to safely shoot outdoors.
