NVIDIA

NVIDIA

NVIDIA is a world-renowned producer of graphics processors. The company headquarters are located in the famous Silicon Valley, California.

NVIDIA processors

NVIDIA chips can be found not only in graphics cards, but also in game consoles and various mobile devices. Graphics cards with NVIDIA chips can be divided into several groups depending on what they are intended for. Among the best known include:

  • NVIDIA GeForce – for desktop computers and laptops
  • NVIDIA Quadro – used in workstations (e.g. for professional graphic designers)
  • NVIDIA Tegra – for mobile phones, PDAs or netbooks.

A brief history of NVIDIA

The history of NVIDIA goes back to 1993, when the company was founded by Curtis Priem, Chris Malachowski and Jen-Hsun Huang. Seven years later, in 2000, NVIDIA bought the company 3dfx, one of the pioneers of graphics cards in the 1990s. NVIDIA also acquired ULI Electronics in 2005, Hybrid Graphics in 2006, and Ageia in 2008.
