Nikon GP-1A

The GP-1A GPS unit ensures images always have the correct location tags, automatically recording information such as latitude, longitude, altitude and time as geotags in the image data (EXIF).  As its reference coordinate system, the GPS unit utilizes the WGS84 version of the World Geodetic System, which is the standard for navigation. The GP-1A GPS unit works together with ViewNX version 1.2 software (available via a free download) and the my Picturetown online photo storage and sharing service. The GPS unit comes with the 10-pin GP1-CA10 cable and the GP1-CA90 cable.

Nikon’s beginnings date back to 1917 in Japan. At first, the company mainly produced lenses - telescopes, binoculars, microscopes and other small, optical equipment. Soon the company expanded its portfolio, producing photographic lenses under the Nikkor brand.

In the field of cameras, particularly among professionals, Nikon quickly gained a reputation as a top manufacturer, which continues today. Its cameras were even included in the equipment of American spacecraft. Nikon designed and produced the legendary Nikon SP 1957, regarded by many as the best camera of all time.
