NFC

NFC technology is becoming increasingly popular and is now a standard feature on many new smartphones and tablets. NFC, or Near Field Communication, provides wireless connection between devices over a short distance.

NFC's range is approximately 20cm and, therefore, has minimal effect on any unpaired devices or external sources. One of the biggest advantages of this technology is automatic connection with other paired devices. There are no repetitive connection steps; you simply place the devices close together and data transfer starts automatically and instantaneously.

NFC is not to be confused with Bluetooth. They are different technologies that are used in very different ways. Bluetooth works over longer distances and has a higher transmission speed, whereas NFC, due to its highly stable connection and quick pairing, is more suited for smaller data transfers. In addition to data communication, NFC can share power, which allows you to remotely charge your smartphones and tablets.

In some countries, NFC already plays an important role in everyday life. Google Wallet, for example, allows you to make payments with your smartphone via NFC, which acts in the same way as a bank card chip for security authentication. NFC offers great programmability, and with NFC tags becoming more frequently used for advertising and other informational purposes, everyone will soon become familiar with NFC technology.

NFC tags first were introduced to the market in 2006. These are programmable chips that support NFC technology. An intuitive application compatible with Android and iOS is used to configure the tags, which are available in different types, capacities and transfer speeds. They can be accessed in several ways, such as dialing a specific number, setting your profile to silent, or by simply turning on your Internet connection.
