This low voltage Kingston memory module will increase server performance when multitasking or during demanding tasks. This module is specifically designed for seamless compatibility with Dell servers. This is an excellent option if you need to expand the RAM in your server - especially if you require high performance with the ever-growing user demands for data load and required programs.
ECC technology checks the integrity of stored data transparently and in real time. It is able to detect and correct an error in a single bit and detect an error in two bits. Some memory controllers can, in cooperation with ECC memory, repair errors of greater magnitude. Most professional boards require memory with ECC support. In collaboration with parity checking, the memory module achieves maximum control of transferred data. Parity means that a 1-bit word is assigned auxiliary information (a so-called parity bit), thanks to which it is possible to then verify the authenticity of transmitted data.
Registered memories are equipped with their own controller which controls access to individual memory modules and therefore facilitates the work of the memory controller on the motherboard or in the processor. The memory outwardly behaves as a single module - register chip - which is responsible for writing and reading from the individual memory cells, and then sends the results of these operations to the controller. This increases the efficiency of memory access and the processing speed even when more memory modules are being used simultaneously. Some server boards require registered memory.
The memory has four separately addressable areas (memory rank) with a bus width of 72 bits (64 bits of data and an 8-bit ECC code). Most server chipsets have a limited memory rank or a directly specified memory configuration for each slot, so it is important to watch out for these parameters when buying, keeping in mind future upgrades - if you reach the full memory rank on the motherboard, it will not be possible to add another module even if there are free memory slots and reserve capacity remaining.
Memory Modules with the "x8" chip organization are affordable, but do not support advanced server technologies such as multiple-bit error correction, Chipkill, memory scrubbing or Intel Single Device DataCorrection (SDDC), so they are ideal for the "entry-level" servers.
