Coffee Trends: BIO, Fitness, Green Coffee and More

There are many types of coffee. The most commonly consumed are espresso, cappuccino, filtered or instant coffee.  There are also other types of coffee with a special method of preparation that are often presented as healthy. Let’s look at these closely, shall we?

What Exactly is Green Coffee?

Green coffee is actually just regular coffee, where the beans have not undergone the process of roasting, therefore they retain certain beneficial substances. On the top of the list of these substances is chlorogenic acid, which helps people burn fat more efficiently. It also reduces appetite, which makes it a great addition to any weight loss diet plan. In its taste, it slightly resembles green tea.

iPlease note that this type of coffee contains more caffeine.

Fitness Coffee for Losing Weight

Fitness coffee is designed to accelerate metabolism and weight loss. This type of coffee is enriched with antioxidants and nutrients that also help with energy and muscle regeneration. The composition of fitness coffee is not uniform and differs greatly from one brand to another, so the effects on the human organism may vary. We recommend you to always read information about the fitness coffee you want to buy.

What Does it Mean to Drink BIO Coffee?

Coffee inspired by BIO trends has grown as a part of organic farming. This means that the coffee is being grown whilst keeping the natural system wholesome and undamaged by industrial chemicals. Drinking high-quality organic coffee supports the environment and sustainable agriculture. BIO coffee is therefore defined primarily by how the beans were grown, not by a particular variety or processing.

Fresh coffee is a delicious beginning of the day.

Is Civet Coffee Really From Animal Droppings?

Yes, and yet – or maybe due to that fact, it is one of the most expensive coffees in the world. Civets, small and cute-looking little animals, eat coffee cherries. Fermentation occurs as the cherries pass through a civet's intestines, and after being defecated with other faecal matter, they are collected. The coffee beans are then rinsed and processed like regular beans. The real civet coffee, also called Kopi Luwar, originates from Philippines and is made exclusively there, in very limited quantities. There are also chemically simulated versions produced and available on the market, which use only the enzymes and don’t have to pass through the animal’s body.

Is Decaffeinated Coffee Really Caffeine-free?

Decaffeinated coffee is also very popular and it tastes similar to its caffeinated sibling. However, it lacks the stimulating effects due to very low caffeine levels. This is especially appreciated by pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as caffeine-sensitive people. It can also be used for enjoying a warm cup of coffee even in the evenings without suffering from insomnia afterwards.
