An extremely powerful Broadwell-EP processor built with the new 14nm manufacturing process. It features 16 cores and is designed mainly for servers, but also classic PC workstations. It can easily handle prolonged operation under maximum load and provides exceptional reliability. The processor is designed for motherboards with the new LGA2011-3 socket.
The new technology delivers higher performance, provided by a higher number of cores, and higher LLC capacity. This model has 16 physical cores in total, and thanks to hyperthreading it can process up to 32 processor threads simultaneously. It uses a 14nm manufacturing process and provides, among other things, 5% better IPC, e.g. interprocessor communication.
The processor has newly added new instruction sets that offer higher performance at the same clock speed. Each core runs at 2.1 GHz, reaching 3.0 GHz with Turbo mode and automatic overclocking. Its four-channel DDR4 memory controller supports 2400 MHz frequency and data access is greatly facilitated by a fast 40 MB L3 cache size. The processor cores have enough time to send an immediate response to all applications.
This technology overclocks busy cores or shuts down those not in use. Overclocking happens through a change in the multiplier. Each core has its own multiplier, which means that two cores can be turned off and the remaining two then run at a different clock speed each.
It’s a great technical solution used by almost every server processor. It provides the option to combine the existing environment with virtual ones. With it, you can easily run multiple operating systems independently on a single machine. This can very effectively solve program compatibility issues in newer operating systems. The processor also includes the latest Intel VT-d virtualisation support, which adds support for I/O devices in a virtualised environment.
It also features Enhanced Intel Speedstep technology, which allows you to reduce power consumption when full power is not required. The processor’s TDP (thermal design power) as listed by the manufacturer is 120 W. The model comes without a heat sink.

Intel Corporation is the world's largest manufacturer of semiconductor circuits and related components, powering a large share of the world's computers, devices, and machines with their powerful and reliable processors. One of the most established and successful companies to come out of Silicon Valley, they've been a driver of the technology revolution ever since.
Intel employs over 96,500 employees worldwide and is one of the biggest and richest companies in the world. For decades, their slogan was "Intel Inside"; however, they replaced with the more dynamic "Leap ahead" in 2005, signalling a renewed commitment to innovation.
