The high-performance Intel Xeon E3-1220 from the Haswell family is designed primarily for server workstations and powerful PC builds. The 22nm manufacturing technology significantly reduces power consumption, allowing the third generation of Xeon E3 for the LGA 1150 socket to achieve outstanding performance per watt. Data centres specialised in graphics can make a huge step forward with this CPU thanks to its outstanding performance, which ensures quick and effective data access.
The Intel Xeon E3-1220 processor utilises 4 cores, making it an excellent alternative to multi-CPU workstations, which are typically much less affordable and energy efficient. The base clock speed is 3.1 GHz, but the smart Intel Turbo Boost feature automatically overclocks up to 3.5 GHz when necessary, giving you uncompromising computing power. The 8 MB L3 cache optimises data transfer speeds between the processor and other components.
The Intel Xeon E3 is a high-performance computing unit with a 64-bit instruction set and can address up to 32 GB of memory. One of its highlights is the Intel VT-x virtualisation technology, which enables one hardware platform to work as multiple virtual environments. Operations utilising multiple threads run faster thanks to a new instruction designed for the most efficient use of individual cores in simultaneous processes. When idle, however, the CPU goes into power saving mode, only consuming enough power to handle all currently running applications.
Intel Corporation is the world's largest manufacturer of semiconductor circuits and related components, powering a large share of the world's computers, devices, and machines with their powerful and reliable processors. One of the most established and successful companies to come out of Silicon Valley, they've been a driver of the technology revolution ever since.
Intel employs over 96,500 employees worldwide and is one of the biggest and richest companies in the world. For decades, their slogan was "Intel Inside"; however, they replaced with the more dynamic "Leap ahead" in 2005, signalling a renewed commitment to innovation.
