Gaming monitors should have a minimum response time of 4ms and a refresh rate of at least 60Hz. These monitors respond quickly to changing images and provide smooth, crisp image quality, even during demanding action scenes.

When choosing a gaming monitor, first consider what type of games you intend to play.
Gaming Monitors for Action and Sports Games
For action or sports games, we recommend monitors with a response time of 1-2ms. The refresh rate should be at least 60Hz, but 100Hz and higher is even more ideal.
Gaming Monitors for Strategy Games
When playing strategy games, the size of the playing area is important - generally, the larger the better. Large playing areas usually have higher resolutions. For strategy games, we therefore recommend monitors with at least Full HD resolution (1920×1080 pixels). A higher resolution is even better.
What else should I consider when choosing a gaming monitor?
Panel Type
- IPS/S-IPS monitors - Excel in natural colours, low power consumption and wide viewing angles. Their disadvantage is the higher price tag.
- TN monitors - Compared to IPS monitors, they are cheaper, offer lower-quality colour reproduction and narrower viewing angles.
- MVA/PVA monitors - In terms of price and picture quality, their quality and features are somewhere between IPS and TN monitors. They provide more realistic colour reproduction and wider viewing angles. They're also cheaper than IPS monitors.
Screen Surface
- Matte - Doesn't reflect light from its surroundings, but provides less-saturated colour reproduction.
- Glossy - Provides vibrant and realistic colours. More light is reflected from the surroundings, making the display hard to see in bright sunlight.
- Anti-glare - (A shiny surface with an anti-glare finish) A compromise between glossy and matte screens. They are easier to view in direct sunlight than glossy screens, but the colour reproduction isn't as high as a glossy surface.
Connectors
Before buying a monitor, make sure that it has a compatible port for your computer. If not, you won't be able to connect the monitor.
