Canon’s XA35 Professional Camcorder offers a remarkable combination of portability, image quality, simultaneous dual recording and the convenience of its HD-SDI connectivity. This terminal helps to provide incredibly fast transfer of uncompressed video with timecode and audio embedded for rapid productions. All this makes for a camcorder that helps facilitate speedy, outstanding-quality video capture that can be ideal for broadcast news, sports events, documentaries and other fast-moving recording situations.
The heart of the camera is undoubtedly the newly developed Canon HD CMOS Pro sensor achieving an effective pixel count of approximately 2.91 megapixels to deliver stunning Full HD picture quality. With increased sensitivity and an improved signal-to-noise ratio, low light images in particular appear cleaner with reduced noise and the sensor helps provide vivid, accurate recordings. Additionally, the detachable handle of the XA35 features an infrared emitter with a diffuser to shoot appealing infrared imagery even in complete darkness.
The XA35 Professional Camcorder features a stunning and versatile 26.8mm wide angle lens. Its 20x zoom gets you up close to the action, providing a highly versatile zoom range with 35mm equivalent of 26.8–576mm, and a minimum object distance of just 23.6 inches (60cm) to help capture newsworthy recordings near and far, while Dynamic Optical Image Stabilisation compensates for shake in 5 directions to provide ultra-steady images. The image quality is enhanced by an f/1.8 Circular Aperture design – the 8-blade iris and EDM technology enable beautiful ‘bokeh’ effects.
Canon XA35 excels with new functional properties, which saves you a lot of work and time with post-production editing. Among them is a wide dynamic range and high luminance priority. You achieve a dynamic range of up to 600 percent, so the resulting image is bright, high-contrast and retains fine detail even in dark areas and shadows. When priority high brightness achieved especially in areas with high brightness images with natural tones and richer colors. This mode is ideal for scenes under a clear sky or reflective surfaces. For natural and realistic-looking image capture that faithfully represents the scene at hand, the XA35 features a Wide DR Gamma mode, which gives you a 600% dynamic range, resulting in bright images, and seamless tone gradations, with high contrast that retain detail in both highlight and shadow areas, without the need for post-production, saving you both time and energy. Highlight Priority mode reproduces footage with more natural tones, richer colours and detail, particularly in areas of high brightness – perfect for scenes with bright skies and reflective surfaces.
The camera supports a high-quality AVCHD video format, which can be recorded at up to 28Mbps in 1080/50P; as well as the 35Mbps 1080/50P MP4 recording mode. For safety and convenience, double-slot recording allows you to record simultaneously to each of the two SD memory card slots, providing an instant backup for your footage. With Relay Recording, the XA35 Professional Camcorder automatically switches video recording from one SD memory card to the other when the first memory card becomes full.
It’s possible to remotely control camera functions through a Wi-Fi enabled device with no need for separate apps. Transfer footage wirelessly using a smartphone, tablet, or via FTP at up to 150 Mbps. Location data can be recorded using an optional compatible GPS Canon GP-E2 accessory.
A detachable handle provides the user with expanded audio performance and added flexibility. Removing the handle allows the camcorder to be made more compact for convenient storage when travelling. Two built-in XLR audio input terminals with phantom power are also included on the handle.
