A very powerful and compact Canon lens with a low weight and F4.0 aperture. This model is equipped with 16 optical elements in 13 groups. The minimum focusing distance is 1.2 m. One big advantage is the option to attach a circular polarising filter, because the front lens element does not rotate during focusing. The lens’ USM enables quick and quiet autofocus. The USM uses the piezoelectric principle and consists of two rings, one of which acts as a stator and the other (powering the focus mechanism) as the rotor.
