The AKAI MPK Mini MKII is an ultra compact keyboard with an array of buttons, knobs, and pads designed for traveling musicians and producers. It strikes the perfect balance between portability and comprehensive software control. Plus, it gives complete control of the Akai Pro series with great portability. It features 25 velocity-sensitive synth-action keys, 8 MPC-style pads, and 8 assignable Q-Link knobs, making the MKII a perfect keyboard controller.
The MKII includes all the essentials for quickly laying down and expanding upon your musical ideas. Sensitive keys allow accurate dymanic expression, while dedicated Octave buttons increase the keyboard to the full melodic range. An onboard arpeggiator with adjustable resolution, range, and modes makes it easy to create intricate melodic lines with little effort. Tap Tempo button gives you the option to quickly set up the arpeggiator clock, which is necessary for good sync with the band. Sustain button holds the tone even after you take your hands from the keyboard, allowing you to easily transform the pad sound using knobs, even without touching the pedal.
The MPK Mini MKII features 8 backlit velocity-sensitive MPC-style pads based on the Akai Professional MPC series, a truly iconic music production workstation. It’s a great solution for running individual musical samples and sequencing drum templates. The pads can be used for casting information about MIDI musical notation, MIDI continuous controllers, or Program Change events. Pressing the Bank button lets you quickly switch between 2 pad banks, giving you access to 16 pads in total. The MKII also has 8 assignable Q-Link controllers to control virtually any software parameter.
The MKII requires no software drivers (plug-and-play) and is compatible with both Mac OS X and Windows. It doesn’t need an external power adapter for operation either, powering itself through the USB connection instead. Four memory banks enable you to store hardware/software presets for quick and easy setting up of your computer and MPK Mini.
